Muscle consisting of between fifteen and twenty-five bilaterally located longitudinal fibers in abdominal segments 2 to 6 of males, or segments 2 to 8 of females (Miller, 1950. It is involved in moving the abdominal segment tergite. It is attached to the a2 compartment of the tergite anteriorly and the a1 compartment of the next segment posteriorly (Krzemien et al., 2012. (Miller, 1950, Bate, 1993, Krzemien et al., 2012, Hartenstein, 2006, Vigoreaux, 2006)
